When I overlooked Melbourne from the airplane, I saw an area of low-rise housing on a vast land. It was very different from what I had imagined as an international city of the world. After a few days visit, I just realised that it is such a “Land of Charms”!

Passing by a variety of Victoria style buildings, it is like visiting an old town, and even a paradise for the arts. The enchanting and emblematic Art Gallery of Victoria, the Federation Square, and the antique Flinders Street Station, all make me feel the art atmosphere in every corner of the city. From the amazing buildings to the stylish galleries and sculptors, the gold rush in the 19th century brought a wealth of European culture, enriching the city's reputation. This is a place where people congregate for shows and concerts. The locals prefer to go to the opera house, galleries and cafés in their spare time. The popular Art Festival and Art Melbourne are held in the city every year, making the streets even more lively. Roaming the city, you can find graffiti, another form of creative expression, hiding in the alleys. Art can be discovered all around the city, such as the charming works found in the Blackman, Olsen and Cullen hotels.

Collins Street is a famous shopping and Business Street with international luxury brands, every shop window here showing the most fashionable element. A walk through the Block or Royal arcades will take you back to the 19th century. There are jewellery, clothing, leather, shoe and cosmetic specialty shops all along the street, even the buildings with their elegant and exquisite arcades are worth your attention. History and fashion mix together in this street.

Melbourne, a liveable city with an inclusive culture and nearly 500 parks, is known as “The Garden City.” Nothing surpasses waking up to the smell of flowers and the sound of birds singing. Walk across the Yarra River, green is everywhere. Children playing on the grass and sparrows that are not afraid of humans, playing with people demonstrate the ability of humans and nature to live harmoniously. Prahran Market in Melbourne, a traditional market opened in 1864, is the best market for vegetables and fruits. It is a paradise of food as it gathers different products from all over the world. You can see Spanish ham, French truffles, Turkish chives, as well as cakes and oysters from Tasmania during every season of the year. Whether you prefer the lush garden culture or the comprehensive food culture, Melbourne is a liveable city with an open and inclusive atmosphere.
